BACKGROUND: Ophelia was referred by her social worker with multiple carious lesions and a painful tooth on the lower left side. She lived in the city with her brother, and a full time caregiver. We visited Ophelia at her home and decided that, due to her advanced multiple sclerosis, she would best be treated in the hospital.
